Seattle-based architectural and design practice Hoedemaker Pfeiffer have renovated an old boathouse. The old boathouse had one door and no windows. The renovation work includes a protective layer of concrete on the outside and a warm marine plywood paneling on the inside. The large sliding doors extend beyond the building to create sheltered spaces facing both sunrise and sunset. A retractable ladder allows the boathouse to be used as a summer retreat and winter boat storage.
